I was walking to the library at school this week and came across this piece. I thought it was very interesting because, to me, it felt as if your body is behind bars and you are trapped in your own body, since it has the figurine of the body inside. When I saw it, I thought about how there are a lot of women who feel as if they are trapped in their bodies because what they are told the standard for how they should look is very different from what actually happens with their bodies. Many people go to war with their bodies in order to feel beautiful, and if they don’t reach that standard, they have a problem with it. I just thought this was an interesting representation of that.
